Speed vs. Accuracy: Mastering BeatSaber

Alrighty, so speed versus accuracy… which matters more?

That's a really good question.

Now, that really does depend as to where you are. When you are brand new, I would definitely suggest being more focused on accuracy than speed, mainly due to the song itself being a little slower.

As you may (or may not) have noticed, when you are further along with harder levels, it gets a little harder to have more accuracy if you've ever seen any of the YouTube videos or actually are part of the course and have seen myself. It can actually be a little bit better to focus on speed.

So to answer that question vaguely, I would mainly say in the earlier levels of, say, Easy, Normal, and arguably Hard as well. You could probably focus a little bit more on accuracy than speed. Of course, as you get into the harder levels of, well, Hard, Expert, and Expert+, speed gets a little bit more important because you don't have so many blocks coming at you at that point. That accuracy kind of goes out the window. I mean, you have to hit it in the right direction, to be fair, but you don't have to have it directly in the center or anything.

Another question could be, say, if you wanted to boost your speed without sacrificing too much accuracy. I really like that. So the one thing that I did when I first started, and not even “first started”, when I was further along as well, I picked a song that I really, really liked, specifically the Expert+ Breezer song.

I really like that still, and what I would do is when I first wanted to get more accuracy, I would pick a song I really like and then I would slow it down. Why? Because when I slow it down, then I can start to memorize the map and where all the blocks are. Once I memorize that, I'm able to get some really good accuracy, then I'm able to speed it up. And then once I've sped it up, I know where all the blocks are, I know what I'm doing, I know where my arms should be, my hands should be, etc.

At that point, you can get quicker and quicker, while knowing where everything is. It may not work as well as you think initially, but if you pick one song and get really, really good at it, your accuracy will reflect that as well.
