Joining BeatSaber Communities: Level Up Your Skills!

January 24, 20253 min read

So, the one big thing about joining online communities in general is, at least in my opinion, it's really, really good for in some cases, boosting your confidence.

Now, in other cases it's definitely not, but, in most cases, I would say communities can really help uplift you while you're practicing. One thing that I would say, or the best way that I'd love to interact with other people on Beatsaber, is honestly just to play online. The good thing about playing online is you can just, on a whim, just go, “hey, I want to go into this!”. BeatSaber will generate everything for you and then other people with that same interest can join in as well and you don't even have to know them.

One thing you can also do is if you have other friends that you really like to play with online, you can also play with them within a group in BeatSaber as well.

Another method is to join a Discord group. Now, for those of you who may not know what Discord is, it's an online communication device, mainly used for people to talk with each other while playing video games. There are many different Discord communities surrounding Beatsaber. Some big, some small, and you can create ones for your friends as well. That's honestly the best way to chat with others online in my opinion.

There is one thing that I want you guys to be aware of though. There is one option you can partake in, which would be voice chat, which means you can pop into a group chat with a bunch of others, and chat while also playing online with them. If you do this, you do need to be 13+ because Discord is a 13+ platform. Along with that, also please be aware that some people may not be as uplifting as others. So, just know who you're chatting with, if that sort of thing matters to you.

There is one other thing as well, if you are playing online with a community or with random strangers. If you are competitive, the online spaces you would join in BeatSaber are automatically a competition. Now you don't need to pay attention to that, but if you are someone who likes to be really competitive, this could be a really good place for you. I would suggest for people who are less competitive, it may not be the best choice to randomly join communities of people or honestly play online. However, if you select a group of specific friends who are not particularly competitive, even though there would be a scoreboard, you can easily ignore that.

Along with the above, here are some things I would suggest not sharing while in voice chat, or in any community where you can communicate freely. 1, one, don't share your age. 2, definitely don't share where you live. 3, don't share your name. However, there are a few things you can share if you’re comfortable doing so. One thing, you can share what time it is for you. That's widely considered acceptable and okay. You can also share the country you live in, as nothing would realistically happen to you. However, it is (to some) still an odd question to be asked, and you’re obviously not obligated to answer.
